2013 Mount Hood Area Travel — 7/21 Mount Hood（一）Timberline lodge

Mount Hood是久聞大名的，胡德山是位於美國西北部奧勒岡州的一座山峰。胡德峰標高3,429米，是奧勒岡州最高的山峰，喀斯喀特山脈的第四高峰。山名來自於英國海軍將領薩繆爾·胡德。胡德峰是一座活火山，上一次噴發是在1790年代。

一直嚮往著走Mount Hood裡一條有名的Trail（Timberline Trail vis Paradise Park）
Timberline Lodge to Paradise Park Loop Trail is a 12 mile dog-leg starting and ending at Timberline lodge that gives access to "the park" a large mountain meadow and grassland on Mt. Hood.

當山近在眼前時，反而不覺得他真有奧勒岡州第一高峰的架勢。

快接近山頂的那一片平坦雪地，應該就是滑雪場。

七月中下旬了，還有積雪可滑讓我們都有些吃驚！

看著這光禿禿沒啥樹木的山勢，頭上是萬里無雲的艷陽，還能hike嗎？心裡打個十分大的問號。

The hike around Mount Hood is one of the best hikes in the area. You get great views of Mount Hood, and of the surrounding territory including Cascade volcanoes such as Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, Mount Jefferson, and the Three Sisters. You can see the Coast Range to the west. You can see Portland and the Willamette River. You can see the Columbia River. You can see the desert to the east.

往南看，這應該是Mount Jefferson和更後面的Three Sisters。

停車場爆滿，還有人指揮交通。一大堆小巴士載著年輕人，見他們裝備齊全的準備滑雪。我們先去滑雪的購票及租用裝備處晃了一下，沒見識過十分好奇有如劉姥姥進大觀園，很想照些相，卻不想在這些酷勁十足的年輕人面前透露自己鄉巴佬的模樣，哈哈！

Timberline Lodge is a mountain lodge on the south side of Mount Hood in Oregon, about 60 miles (97 km) east of Portland.
Built in the late 1930s, the National Historic Landmark sits at an elevation of 5,960 feet (1,817 m), within the Mount Hood National Forest and is accessible through the Mount Hood Scenic Byway
It is a popular tourist attraction, drawing more than a million visitors annually.It is noted in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

外表看起來並不像加拿大的那些城堡飯店。
